Abstract Aims: We investigated gender differences among adolescents in quality of sleep, psychophysiological problems, dream frequency, emotional states, and personality traits and also if the effect of quality of sleep on psychophysiological problems, dream frequency, emotional states, and personality traits was moderated by gender. Method: High school pupils (n1 = 155, n2 = 142, and n3 = 325) responded to the Uppsala Sleep Inventory, the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule, Beck’s Depression Inventory, the Type A-Personality Scale, and the Temperament and Character Inventory. Gender differences were investigated using Multivariate Analyses of Variance and moderation using multi-group Structural Equation Modeling. Results: Girls scored higher in major sleep problems, difficulties falling asleep, night awakenings, psychophysiological problems, dream frequency, negative affect, depression, stress, and Type A-personality. Boys scored higher in novelty seeking, harm avoidance, and persistence. Girls’ quality of sleep was related to their psychophysiological problems, dream frequency, positive affect, negative affect, stress, novelty seeking, reward dependence, persistence, and self-directedness. Boys’ quality of sleep was related to their psychophysiological problems, negative affect, stress, Type A-personality, novelty seeking, harm avoidance, reward dependence, and self-directedness. Conclusion: Girls showed the unhealthiest sleep-psychophysiological-emotional-personality profile. For both genders, good quality of sleep or “beauty sleep” might result in less psychophysiological problems, less negative affect, less stress, less novelty seeking, and less self-directedness. However, for boys, “sleeping beauty” comprises less Type A-behaviour, less harm avoidance, and more reward dependence; while for girls “sleeping beauty” comprises less frequency of vivid dreams, more positive affect, less reward dependence, and more persistent behaviour.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of painting therapy in reducing emotional- behavioral problems of children with cancer (internalized problems: anxious-depressed, withdrawn-depressed, somatic complaints; externalized problems: aggressive behavior and rule-breaking behavior).
Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and control group with follow-up. Using targeted sampling, 40 children (6-12 years old) with cancer, whose score on the Child Behavior Check List (CBCL) was one standard deviation above the mean, was selected and randomly divided into two experiment (n = 20) and control (n = 20) groups, but due to drop in the number of participants, it decreased to 31 (16 experimental group and 15 control group). The painting program was performed on the experimental group in the form of 8 two-hour sessions. To analyze the data, the mixed variance analysis method was used.
Results: The results showed that although the overall score of the internalized and externalized problems was significantly reduced, painting therapy did not affect the somatic complaints (of internalized problems) and the rule-breaking behavior (of externalized problems).
Conclusions: The results showed that painting therapy can be an effective way to reduce the emotional-behavioral problems of children with cancer. Therefore the findings of this study can have preventive clinical applications.

Objective: Diabetes is a chronic disease that has negative physical and psychological consequences and effective interventions are necessary to reduce these consequences. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the Autogenic training (AT) and Affect regulation training (ART) on the psychological adjustment of women with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Among female patients with type 2 diabetes referred to the Iranian Endocrine Institute, 33 patients were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into three groups (AT, ART, and control). Participants answered the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale (PAIS‐SR) before and at the end of the intervention. The subjects of ART and AT groups underwent 10 90-minute training sessions and the control group did not receive any intervention. Results: Data analysis with MANOVA and ANOVA showed that psychosocial adjustment to disease in both ART and AT groups was significantly improved compared to the control group (P <0.05). The two groups of AT and ART were not significantly different in improving psychosocial adjustment to disease (P >0.05).Conclusion: It seems that both interventions, AT and ART, have been effective in improving the psychological adjustment of women with type 2 diabetes by affecting the mechanisms of mind-body communication.

Divorce is one of the most major stressors in life and has potentially negative consequences for mental and physical health. So, One’s ability to cope with divorce breeds in more general health. the focus of studies is more concentrated on the effects of divorce on children and women, while the consequences of this phenomenon on men are regrettably neglected. research showed that divorced men are at highly significant risk for early death based on the cumulative number of years that men lived as divorcees. hypertension is mainly known as a consequence of distress among divorced men. A limited number of heterogeneous researches have concentrated on the experience of divorce in men. However, they are heading for more negative consequences. to eliminate these shortcomings, the Scoping review method will be used for running an exploratory study on the current heterogeneous literature and It will be useful for future research.

Objective: Given the importance of screening as one of the health behaviors in cervical cancer, this study aims to develop and evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Cervical Cancer Screening Behavior Scale (CCSBS).Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 376 women referred to Javaheri Health Center during the study period were selected through convenience sampling. Then, the scale was developed, and its content and face validities were examined. To ensure divergent and convergent validity, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) was used. The internal consistency method (Cronbach's alpha) was used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire. Finally, confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess the construct validity of the CCSBS, and SPSS and LISREL software were applied to analyze the data. Results: The findings of this study provided strong support, which confirmed the content and face validities. Regarding the convergent and divergent validity, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity and deterioration, and perceived barriers have a direct and significant relationship with the three variables of depression, anxiety, and stress. On the other hand, perceived motivation had a significant inverse correlation with all three variables of depression, anxiety, and stress. Additionally, perceived self-efficacy had a significant inverse correlation with depression. The results of Cronbach's alpha indicated the appropriate internal consistency of the whole questionnaire and its components. Cronbach's alpha for the whole questionnaire was 0.78. According to confirmatory factor analysis, the goodness of fit indicators of the proposed model was confirmed and the paths were significant. Conclusion: CCSBS is a reliable and valid tool for measuring the screening behavior of cervical cancer in Iranian women and it appears to be a comprehensive and useful tool for assessing women's beliefs related to cervical cancer and cervical cancer screening.

Objective: Problem gambling is a non-addiction issue that may arise even from recreational engagement with gambling activity. In Nigeria, not much has been written about this menace to the extent that the focus of interest of the government is on the economic gains of gambling activities rather than how to curtail the problems arising therefrom. Therefore, this study was aimed at investigating psychosocial predictors (age, suicidality, and financial strain) contributing either independently or collectively to problem gambling among male undergraduate students in Ogun state, Nigeria. Methods: This study adopted a correlational research design. 201 participants were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires that included bio-data information, Problem Gambling Severity Index developed by (Ferris & Whynne, 2001), Suicidal Behaviour Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R) developed by Osman, Bagge, Gutierrez, Konick, Kopper, & Barrios (2001) and Financial Strain Survey developed by (Aldana & Lijenquist, 1998). Results: Multiple Regression Analysis was used to analyze the data, and the results revealed that financial strain contributed more significantly to problem gambling (t (196) = 5.348, P.001), = 36, while all psychosocial variables contributed collectively to problem gambling (F (3, 196) = 9.670, P.01, AdjR2 =.12) among male undergraduate students in Ogun State, Nigeria. Conclusions: The study concluded that psychosocial factors-age, financial strain, and suicidality collectively contributed to problem gambling while only financial strain independently significantly predicted problem gambling among male university students in Ago-Iwoye community of Olabisi Onabanjo University. The study recommended that students receive financial counselling and planning in order to manage their money effectively.

Objective: Pelvic inflammatory disease is a chronic disease and a common infection in women which is associated with significant complications. This study aimed to compare cognitive abilities and personality traits in infertile women with and without pelvic inflammatory disease.
Method: The research method was causal-comparative and the sample of research included 48 infertile women with pelvic inflammatory disease and 57 infertile women without the pelvic inflammatory disease, who were referred to Al-Zahra Hospital in Rasht in 2021 and were selected through the convenience sampling method. The research instruments were a demographic checklist, the Cognitive Ability Questionnaire (Nejati, 2013), and the Neo Personality Questionnaire (McCrae & Costa, 1985). Research data were analyzed using the Mann-whitney test and multivariate variance analysis.
Results: The results showed that there was no difference between infertile women with and without pelvic inflammatory disease in cognitive abilities and personality traits (p >0.05). But there was a significant difference between four of the seven components of cognitive ability (memory; P<0.05, U= 899.00, inhibitory control and selective attention; P<0.05, U= 933.00, decision-making; P<0.05, U= 863.500, and sustained attention; P<0.05, U= 924.500), the total score of the cognitive ability variable (P<0.05, U= 815.000), and openness in both upper and lower levels of education (P <0.05, U= 907.50).
Conclusion: Infertility with causes of inflammatory and non-inflammatory did not lead to cognitive dysfunction and differences in personality traits but education as a potentially influential variable can play a crucial role, which needs further research.

Objective: Somatic symptoms consist of a wide range of symptoms and until yet clustering them has been very challenging for researchers and therapists. The present study aims to explore underlying psychological factors of various functional somatic symptoms and determine if there are any similarities or differences in these factors that could help classify these symptoms as one syndrome or discrete ones.
Method: This study adopted an association rule mining method based on data mining. 643 participants were recruited using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using the checklist of somatic symptoms (Lacourt et al., 2013), Attachment Questionnaire (Hazan & Shaver, 2017), Defense Style Questionnaire (Andrews et al., 1993), and Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale (Lane, 2006).
Results: Cognitive, gastrointestinal, and fatigue symptoms are related more to immature defense mechanisms. Musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiac symptoms are associated with neurotic defenses. Fatigue symptoms are associated with ambivalent attachment and musculoskeletal symptoms are related more to avoidant attachment. Indeed, it could be said that there are two clusters of somatic symptoms, one of which is attachment and the other is defense mechanisms. This supports the splitters’ view about somatic syndromes.
Conclusions: These findings show various types of somatic symptoms have qualitatively different risk factors. Our findings imply that psychotherapists should consider the kind of syndromes a patient has and their underlying psychological predispositions to manage the problem better.

Objective: Women living with HIV (WLWH) experience various psychosocial challenges, which negatively affecttheir quality of life (QOL). The current study examines the outcomes of women living with HIV (WLWH), whoreceive cognitive behavioral group therapy (CBGT) for improving quality of life in Tehran, Iran.Method: The design of the study is a randomized clinical trial (RCT). Sixty women with HIV were randomly assignedinto control and intervention groups, with 30 participants for each group. A 10-session cognitive behavioral grouptherapy was provided only to the intervention group. The control group participated in 3 sessions without specialtraining. To assess the effectiveness of the intervention, quality of life was measured using the MultidimensionalQuality of Life Questionnaire for HIV/AIDS (MQoL-HIV) before and one month after intervention delivery. Pre-testand post-tests were compared using t-test analysis. Results: After 10 weeks of training, the Mean±SD QOL score significantly increased in the intervention group. Basedon covariance analysis, the intervention group had a significantly higher QOL score than the control group after theintervention P<0.05.Conclusion: Due to the low quality of life among WLWH, CBGT can be helpful in providing psychologicalrehabilitation to improve the quality of life of this group.

The studies since the second half of the 20th century have revealed the effect of stress on the heart and vessels with mediating neurological indicators and techniques of dysfunctional coping techniques. They also have shown that stress management and the improvement of coping techniques improve the indicators. The present study examined the appraisal of the effect of coping-therapy on cortisol, Interleukin 6 (IL-6) and Interleukin 1β (IL-1β) in comparison with the control group. The study was a quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test design conducted on 44 patients (randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups) suffering from coronary heart disease who were hospitalized in Shahid Rajaei Heart Hospital in Tehran in 2011. The experimental group was treated with coping-therapy, and the immunological indicators of both groups were measured using ELISA at the beginning, the fourth, the eighth, (immediately after the end of treatment), the tenth, and the fourteenth weeks. The collected data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA by SPSS version 17. The gender and education of the sample was controlled statistically. The results revealed that coping-therapy could significantly decrease cortisol, IL-6, IL-1β from the eighth to the end of the fourteenth week (follow-up). Considering the cognitive limitations of the present study, one can conclude that coping-therapy may decrease the negative effects of stress on immunological indicators through improving dysfunctional techniques to effective ones, and in this way, reveal the positive effects on health.

Objective: This study aimed to find out the anxiety and depression level among tertiary students in Bangladesh during COVID-19 outbreak.
Method: The online survey design was used in this study. To measure anxiety and depression, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) scales were used. Binary logistic regression was performed to assess the impact of several factors on the likelihood of reporting anxiety and depression by respondents.
Results: The strongest predictor of binary logistic regression of reporting anxiety was gender (OR: 2.848; 95% CI; 1.836-4.417; p<.001), indicating that female students had about 2.9 times more likely to report anxiety than male students. The duration of using social media (OR: 0.567; 95% CI; 0.329-0.978; p<0.05) was also affecting the level of anxiety of the students. Depression was reported to be affected by the present living place (OR: 0.507; 95% CI; 0.316-0.814; p=.005).
Conclusion: This study showed that students had different levels of anxiety and depression. Gender, the present living place, and the duration of using social media were the significant factors for anxiety disorder. Depression was also getting affected by the present living place and the duration of using social media.

Objective: The Coronavirus not only affects physical health, but the outbreak of this virus can also have devastating psychological effects. To treat and diagnose, these impacts should be identified. This study aimed to investigate the role of perfectionism and self-compassion in predicting coronavirus anxiety.
Method: The sample consisted of 292 participants who responded online to the Coronavirus Anxiety Inventory, the Hewitt and Flett Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (HF-MPS), and Self-Compassion Scale-Short Form (SCS-SF). Data were analyzed by correlation and multiple regression analysis.
Results: The results have shown that the dimensions of perfectionism, and Self-compassion, predict coronavirus anxiety (P <0.001). Also, mindfulness and common humanity, from self-compassion components, could predict coronavirus anxiety significantly (P <0.001).
Conclusion: These findings indicate that perfectionism is effective in exacerbating Coronavirus anxiety, and self-compassion is effective in modulating it. These variables can play an important role in general health policies, the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of Coronavirus anxiety.

Objective: The Coronavirus not only affects physical health but also the outbreak of this virus can have devastating psychological effects. To treat and diagnose, these impacts should be identified. This study investigatied the mediating role of empathy in the relationship between self-compassion and psychological capital with corona anxiety.
Method: The research method was correlational with path analysis. The population of this study included all undergraduate students of Poldokhtar Higher Education Center (450 students) who were studying in the academic year 2020-2021. The sample of the study consisted of 210 male students who answered the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS; Alipour & et al., 2020), Self-Compassion Scale (SCS; Neff, 2003), Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ; Luthans et al., 2007), and Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI; Davis, 1983) electronically. Casual modeling was used to analyze data.
Results: The results showed that the proposed model has a good fit with the data of this study (RMSEA = 0.001, GFI = 1.00, AGFI = 0.98, CFI = 1.00). The results showed that the psychological capital had a direct effect on corona anxiety (β = -0.16, p<0.05), but self-compassion did not have a positive effect on corona anxiety (p>0.05). Self-compassion had a positive effect on empathy (β = 0.32, p<0/01); but psychological capital did not affect empathy (p>0/05) directly. Also, empathy positively affected corona anxiety (β = -0.29, p<0/01). Indirect pathway results showed that only self-compassion mediated by empathy could reduce corona anxiety (p<0/01).
Conclusions: According to the results, students with higher psychological capital and empathy experience less corona anxiety, and on the other hand, the more self-compassion increases, the more empathy improves, which results in a decrease in corona anxiety. Therefore, through education and promotion of self-compassion, empathy can be increased and the severity of corona anxiety in students can be reduced.

Objective: The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation in improving the anxiety components of women with chest pain.
Method: The research method was experimental with a pre-test-post-test design, a control group, and a three-month follow-up. The statistical population included all women with chest pain in Karaj city in 2021. using a purposeful sampling method, 60 patients with chest pain in Shahid Rajaei Hospital were selected and randomly assigned into three groups autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation training, and control group. Autogenic training was provided in twelve 90-minute sessions, and progressive muscle relaxation intervention was administered in eight 2-hour sessions. Beck's (1988) anxiety questionnaires, Tylor & Cox (1998) revised anxiety sensitivity, and Rapee, et al (1996) perception of anxiety control was used to collect data. Data analysis was done using covariance analysis and post hoc test methods.
Results: The results showed that autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation alone have been effective in reducing anxiety symptoms, anxiety sensitivity and perception of anxiety control and autogenic training was more effective in improving anxiety components compared to progressive muscle relaxation (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Considering the greater effectiveness of autogenic training on the anxiety components, it is suggested that relevant experts use this intervention to reduce the anxiety of patients with chest pain.

The aim was to replicate past findings, but we also focused on matched comparisons within individuals withaffective profiles that are similar in one affective dimension and differ in the other in order to predict changes whenindividuals increase/decrease their experience of positive or negative affect. Methods: A total of 567 participants answered the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule, which was usedfor affective profiling; the Situational Motivation Scale, which measures intrinsic motivation, identified regulation, external regulation, and amotivation; and the Stress-Energy questionnaire. Results: Comparisons between the four different profiles, replicating the past findings, showed that individuals withhigh affective and self-fulfilling profile scored highest in intrinsic motivation, identified regulation, and energy, whilethey scored lowest in external motivation, amotivation, and the self-fulfilling profile, also lowest in stress. Additionally, the matched comparisons showed, for example, that levels of intrinsic motivation increase when negative affect levelsdecrease, and positive affect is kept high when positive affect decreases and negative affect is kept low. Conclusions: One important feature of the affective profiles model is the possibility to compare individuals thatare similar in one affect dimension but differ in the other (Garcia, 2011, 2017). This way of discussing individualdifferences helps to predict what changes could be expected when individuals increase or decrease their experience ofpositive or negative affect. Importantly, the direction of these changes cannot be addressed from cross-sectional data

Researchers believe that separation and divorce are the most important stressful events that can happen in life. Therefore, divorce is a complex and painful process that leads to changes in different areas of life and requires coping strategies. This is despite the fact that more studies have focused on women and children after divorce, and men's divorce has been neglected. The present scoping review seeks to investigate, identify, and plot the main concepts relating to men's divorce and its dimensions, domains, impacts and factors based on the main references and evidence. The scoping review method was used to search electronic databases for relevant articles. Of the 3025 abstracts initially identified, after screening both abstracts and full texts, 26 studies were selected for inclusion in this review. After abstracting key information from each study, a content analysis was conducted. Five themes were identified from the content analysis: 1) Demographic, 2) child custody, 3) Psychological factors, 4) attachment style and 5) Coping strategies. This study explained and identified the men's divorce components, its results can reduce the negative effects of divorce on men.

Objective: Patients suffering from psychosomatic disorders such as peptic ulcers struggle with many psychological and physical problems. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of group mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with emotion-focused therapy (EFT) on cognitive emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcer.
Method: This semi-experimental study was conducted with a pre-test-post-test-3-month follow-up design and a control group. For this purpose, 45 patients were selected through convenience sampling method among patients referred to specialized internal medicine clinics during Jan-March 2023. The participants were randomly assigned to three groups i.e. control (15 people), EFT (15 people), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (15 people). The intervention groups received eight sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy/ emotion-focused therapy. The control group did not receive any treatment during the study. The participants completed the standard cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire of Garnefski and Kraaij before, after and three months after the interventions. The obtained data were analyzed by repeated measurement analysis of variance and Bonferroni test.
Results: Overall, the obtained results showed that EFT and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy are effective in the emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcers (P=0.001). Comparing the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy with emotion therapy on adaptive (P=0.56) and maladaptive (P=0.22) emotional regulation showed no significant difference in patients with peptic ulcer.
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that both emotional therapy methods and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy have a positive effect on the emotional regulation of patients with peptic ulcers, and these two methods can be used for the improvement of emotional improvement in patients.

Objective: Type 2 diabetes is a chronic and complex disease that requires constant medical and psychological care. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of acceptance, commitment, and mindfulness therapy in improving blood sugar control and weight control in people with type 2 diabetes.
Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design and a two-month follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of this study included all men with type 2 diabetes and overweight in Tehran in 2021. The research samples were 60 patients who were selected through the purposeful sampling method and randomly assigned into three equal groups including experimental group A (under acceptance and commitment therapy), experimental group B (under mindfulness therapy), and control group (without intervention). The data collection tool in this study was the HBA1C test to control blood sugar and BMI to control weight. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance.
Results: The results showed a significant difference between the mean scores of blood sugar control and weight control in the acceptance and commitment therapy group and the control group (p < 0.001). Also, there was a significant difference between the blood sugar control and weight control scores of the mindfulness therapy group and the control group (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: It is concluded that both interventions, especially acceptance and commitment therapy to reduce the psychological and physical problems of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Abstract Objective: Researchers have shown that obesity in children can cause many body and mind problems. Watching some TV advertisement and programs that indirectly encourage children eating can cause children overeating and obesity. Despite the importance, little research has been done in this subject. This study is trying to evaluate the effect of TV productions on eating behavior in obese children. Method: This research was the experimental study with pretest-posttest with control group in statistical population of 40 high school students that selected through simple random sampling. All subjects completed DEBQ-C scale before and after the test. This questionnaire was designed by Van Strien (2007) for the study of eating behavior in children with 7 to 12 years old. Results: Data analysis and significance analysis of covariance in p and this effect was more on the girls than boys. Conclusion: Since watching TV advertisement and some TV programs has a positive relationship with eating behavior, it is recommended that TV and education authorities plan to teach appropriate training to parents and children to create a proper act of eating behavior.
